Are Clients Spacing Out Appointments?
Are you a new stylist or are you starting to find that clients are spacing out appointments more? Today clients are looking to ensure they’re getting the most bang for their buck at each appointment. They’re also looking to pay for services that allow them to go longer between appointments.
So long are the days of 4-week root touch-ups.
But with all this, you may be finding it more difficult to get clients in your chair.
Here are our top 3 tips to get clients in your chair.
Harness the power of Instagram!
It’s inevitable for you as a stylist to not be on social media, especially Instagram. It’s the best place for you to share your portfolio with current clients and potential clients, and what customer doesn’t love to get featured too! A great thing about Instagram is that it has a bunch of easy tools to help build not only your personal brand but also connect with clients and help build the demand for your services.
Instagram stories are an easy way to let prospective clients know you’re taking new clients is to highlight it in your profile. Here you can also include services you specialize in such as blondes, brunettes, hand painting, curls, men’s cuts etc. If you also have a website for booking you can include your link there and also tag the salon you work at too in your bio!
An easy way to help fill your chair is by sharing availabilities on your story. On your story list the dates and times you have. As well as the services you have for those times too. Today last-minute cancellations aren’t uncommon, and to get your chair filled it’s important to instantly share this new open time right away.

Another way to share new times is by having your salon’s Instagram account also share your team’s stories too. This way you can reach additional clients too and continue to build your customer base.
Tip: Save your stories to your highlights that way these times are always easy to find!

Engage with your customers online.
An easy way to engage with your customers online is by sharing photos of their hair or posting client selfies. Ask your clients to share a photo of the hair and tag you and your salon. Those sticker taps count, and is an easy way to build word of mouth around you!
Share different tips and tricks about products and tools. Maybe you have a tutorial on a favorite hairstyle you do with products at your salon or new ones you want to feature something new. This is an easy way to spark a conversation with your clients and continue to build trust.
The goal is to build a relationship with your clients so that they trust you as a professional, but also want to continue to choose you as their stylist.
Host a giveaway or promo!
This can be a fun and easy way to build up your client base, and your followers online too! See if you can do a small giveaway with products at the salon or other local businesses where you live. You could have an option that if clients book an appointment between a certain set of dates they can be entered to win a prize pack!
Another option is to do something simple like a free haircut with any color service. Or 10% off any appointment booked on a certain day, to fill up an upcoming space, possibly you had a last-minute cancelation. Offering an incentive can help fill that space! Do be cautious with how often you do promos as that is money is money lost. If you create a budget for yourself to help keep track of money spent and ensure you don’t go over either!
