The Future of Salons – Technology and Female Direction

By Alicia Soulier |

There always has to be that one that did it and beat the odds. Without a doubt, SalonScale is that one. Why now and why us?

The past decade has brought a lot of change, not just to the salon industry, but to the world. We have seen movements from the #metoo movement to the first time a female has run for President of the United States, and I could not be more proud to be a woman these days. Standing against all and showcasing the strengths that lie within us is exactly what our company is founded on.

Our industry now more than ever needs help in the area of business. As we continue to grow and evolve we need to match the evolution of trend and technique with the skill and refinement of business.

This industry needs a new “face of business” that we can relate with and we need more women in business to stand up and explain the key ingredients to successful practices.

As a tech startup, our chances of success are very slim. The facts state that 9 out to 10 startups fail in the first year, which is not too far from the 8 out of 10 that fail in salon ownership. The tech sector has a very small female founder community, and in fact, only 2% of tech companies are run by females.

This is our moment where it is our time to shine. The moment we blend tech and beauty created in the perspective of female eyes. With this movement, we will turn the statistics around and help encourage more young female salon owners and female entrepreneurs to believe that they can do it too.

We will change the way the salon industry uses technology forever.
