Tips For Getting Started With SalonScale

Getting Started with SalonScale

Let's get started with SalonScale! First, head over to the Business Center, which you can access through the SalonScale website. Here, you'll be able to let the app know about the color lines you use and their prices. Think of the Business Center as your central control hub; while the app is the tool that carries out your instructions. 

To begin, you'll need to select  the color lines you use. You can either use the Start Guide or enter them manually. Once you've entered the prices, you'll have the option to choose your markup. Don't worry if you change your mind later, you can always adjust this using the "edit markup". It's worth noting that SalonScale recommends following the 100% markup suggestion for maximum success. We typically recommend this markup to cover replenishing the product, salon overhead and if you have a team provide an incentive.

Creating Sessions

Now, let's talk about creating sessions - this is where the real magic happens! We suggest heading over to the profile menu and settings page in the app to customize your preferences. Here, you can set your default unit of measurement (grams or ounces) and choose whether you want to use the Bluetooth scale.  One of our team’s favourite features is automatic tare. This handy feature eliminates the need for pressing any buttons on the scale, allowing you to work more efficiently.

SalonScale Tip:  Use Training Mode, this you to practice creating sessions in the app without it affecting your actual data. 

When you're ready to create your first session, start by deciding how you want to locate the products you'd like to use. You can either use our search field to look for the specific shade you'd like to use, or you can use our filters to organize the products that are displayed. The more you use our system, the better you'll become at finding what you like.

SalonScale Tip: We encourage you to take your time and get comfortable with creating sessions in the app when mixing. Then once you have that mastered try out more features like developer ratio, bowl remix, and formula storage!

Weigh Your Way

Now, let's use the scale! One helpful tip I've found is to wait two seconds after pressing the tare/power button before using it. This makes it easier to zero out the scale. Also, many stylists don't realize that our app can be used with any digital scale in manual entry mode, so you don't have to use our Bluetooth scale with the app.

It’s important to remember to hit the “SAVE” button in the upper right-hand corner after weighing all of your products. We know how frustrating it can be to lose all of your hard work selecting the products and their weights, so we suggest avoiding the back arrow. This way, you can ensure that all of your effort pays off and you can confidently move forward with your work.
